b&w collage 02
it's also from a b & w photograph, though the original collage is/was color-full. for details, the notes from collage 01 apply equally to this one.
b&w collage 01
for both this image and the next one, b&w collage 02, i began by scanning in 24-bit color the original b&w photo of a mainly magazine, greeting card and related ephemera cut-and-paste collage. successfully, i believe(!) i tweaked the perspective to something close to the way the original presented on the wall, applied a sharpen filter (1x) and then adjusted curves, brightness and contrast and the image color to black and white rather than converting back to grayscale. as usual, the pc display is darker than on the mac, and so far this one is more successful than 02, but when i have a few minutes i'll work more on both.

Harwich 01
This is the cover page of my analog Harwich scrapbook; I've digitized all 13 pages and made 3 or 4 (so far) additional pages from slices of those. I'd tried uploading png images to Photobucket but given the size of the originals they were so huge it looked as if nothing was happening, so I saved them out to the default jpg for file sizes 1/5 or 1/6 of the size of the png images—they all look fine to me online! As soon as I finish my Advent Study proposal and get some time in the puter lab, I'm going to make a pdf site and upload it to one of my domain names.

450 Salem Western Avenue
If you've lived or worked or gone to school in the general Boston, North Shore, South Shore, etc. area, you're well-acquainted with the fabled public trans system, usually referred to as MBTA (pronounced as an actual 3-syllable word) in everyday parlance; the extensive MBTA network includes light rail, subway, buses and boats. The MBTA's current Route 450, West Lynn via Western, runs from Salem's Commuter Rail Station to Haymarket--same basic route as when I lived in the illustrious city of Salem on Boston's North Shore. In those days I always took the MBTA 450 whenever I was going into downtown Boston for a day or to school at UMass. Check out the link for history and fun facts! For all of those three years, I lived on Federal Street on the top floor of an amazing Federal-style house.

Celebrate!
While I was taking a color theory course called "Color Interaction" a way long time ago, I drew a series of graphics to illustrate the theories we were studying. Now I've scanned and minimally Photoshopped the representational images I did for each one in different interactive color palettes (I also scanned and saved out each color strip, most of which included more colors than the image); I drew a total of seven pics--last week I blogged Houses - 5!; for today, here's a pair of celebratory balloon fantasies:

Stamps for the County Fair
Here's the group of Earth Day Stamps I'm printing to enter in the San Diego County Fair. Actually, the background color isn't displaying true on this iMac monitor, but who knows how it looks on yours?!
